How to Decorate a Bedroom
Boys Bedroom Ideas
Bedroom decorating ideas are not very commans. As a professional interior designer, and one who specializes in kid's bedroom design (it is the most rewarding and fun!), I think that one of the most important elements in the initial design of a little boy's bedroom, is to include your son in the process as much as possible. When they are a little older, it's great to sit and have a quick discussion on what they envision their new bedroom will look like. The most important step in deciding for the decoration of your kids' room, talk to them to get a clear idea of their preferences, colors, likes, hobbies, etc. this will help in carving a perfect room for your kids.
Complimentary colors work well in interior design because the two complementary colors give contrast. The contrasts draw the eye to a focal point. For this reason, many interior designers choose a deep yellow paint for walls and various hues of burgundy or violets for draperies or other window dressings. Likewise, blues and oranges work well together and so do reds and greens. Themes are especially important to children and the way their room is designed. Themes also need to coincide with not only your child's taste, but their gender as well. For example, if you have a girl, you may be thinking of using pink as the primary color in your child's room.
You can also use different hues of the same color, such as pinks with light violets and reds work great for a girl's bedroom. A boy's room should be a completely different design. Depending on the age of the boy and his tastes, you should design his room. Small bedroom ideas are shown in example given below:
For example, some boys like airplanes, whereas others like cars. You can design your son's room with a theme that goes along with something he likes. If your son is interested in airplanes, you can design his room in a way that has many things that have to do with airplanes or aviation.
A useful tip, and one that I highly recommend, is to purchase the bedding prior to painting the room. It works best to bring the quilt or comforter, shams, etc. into the paint store with you to ensure you get the perfect "match" on color or tone. For instance, if there is a grey-blue color in the bedding set, you may want to tone the paint color down a few shades for the walls.
For example, if your son is a baseball fan and loves the Cubs or the Sox, decorate his room accordingly. You can paint the walls in the colors of your son's favorite team or paint your son's favorite team's logo on one of the walls. You can also combine your son's favorite professional team with his school team's colors and logos. You can strategically place his trophies and ribbons in parts of his room where they can be seen.
With little care and mind, you can create a wonderful room for your kid where he/she can live, play and learn some basic moral lessons.
